A Day on the Lake: Deep Dive Figs in My Writing Notes

Details:

As I glance out across the lake, it appears to be as smooth as glass. The wild wind whipped across the faces of the men, creating a chilling aspect to the warm summer day. Birds circle high in the background. Sailboats use the wind to propel across the water. The large white sails on the water are a sign of solidarity and peace in the cruel world we live in. One of the men reels in a massive fish. The rod is so far bent over while reeling it in that it looks like it's going to snap into a million pieces, and the monster of a fish they were reeling in would get away. As the fish gets closer, a loud echoes from the side of the boat as the fish gives up. The men cheer out for the whole lake to hear. The reel lets off a sigh of relief once the fish is at the boat, and returns to its upright form, like nothing had happened. The boat creaks under the weight of the men and the massive fish, clearly not accustomed to everything on board. The men are taken aback by the massive fish they have just brought in.

Subjective:

As I stare out across the water, I am met with the lake being as smooth as glass. There are plenty of boats out, but no waves. The perfect day to be on the lake. The slight wind can make it a little chilly, but I put on extra clothing to combat this wind chill. I am out here fishing with my friends, all of us piled onto two small row boats. The boats are screaming in agony with each paddle, clearly not accustomed to our weight. Nevertheless, the conditions are perfect for fishing, so I feel obligated to be out here. The water is packed with sailboats that look like little tents on the water, as their large sails guide them on their journey. Amidst the clear water, a thrashing starts to break out. I look up and one of my buddies is reeling in a monster fish. The fish is so massive that his rod is bent over and almost touching the water, ready to break into a million peices. I fear that the boat is going to tip over from how strong this fish is. My friend is grimacing in pain as he attempts to reel the fish in, and the reel is creaking with each spin. Suddenly, a loud thud comes from the side of the boat, and we all look over to see what happened. The fish had given up and was sitting next to our boat. Rather than being a normal fish, we were astounded to find out that my friend had caught a shark! The shark's monster fins stick out of the water, as we quickly hoist the shark into the boat, not letting our amazing catch get away. It was certainly a day that I would never forget.

Objective:

It's somewhat hazy on the lake, where a group of men are fishing. Based on their longer clothing and multiple layers, it looks to be a late summer day, with everybody piled onto the lake before it gets too cold out. Sailboats glide across the water in the background, propelled by just the wind. Perhaps these strong gusts of wind are the reason the men are dressed warmly. The water is calm, with the occasional ripple being the only thing disturbing the surface of the water. There are birds off in the distance, waiting for the perfect fish to catch and snack on. It appears to be a normal day on the water, with everybody out looking for some fun. The men have had a particularly lucky day, as they reeled in a shark. They all are surprised by their catch, as one of the men even takes his hat off to better examine the shark. The shark is about half the length of the small rowboats they brought out to fish. Sure, it's not a monster, but it's a fair-sized shark that they surely weren't expecting when they started the day. Overall, it appears to be a great day to be on the water, and certainly a day the men won't forget.

Here is the painting I based my writing off of:

Seven men sit on two boats in the water. One holds a fishing pole.
